For Count of the Nine Estates, I did want to focus more on the experience. Looking back on Count of Nine, it seemed the player experience was a bit "on rails": once you pick a major structure to build, you are going to find the stuff you need to build that major structure. For Count of the Nine Estates, the player will have more freedom, and will have to make a couple strategic decisions during a match. So, I guess the "experience" I was going for CotNE is: a more strategic and "free" feeling compact, solo euro game.

Count of the Nine Estates is a solo city building game played with 18 cards. Nine Estate cards are your targets to build: City Walls, a Cathedral, a Castle, and more. The other 9 cards make up the Structures deck which contains resources plus structures to be built. Play through the Structures deck in multiple rounds to build the structures needed that will enable you to build one or more of the Estates. The goal is to score the most victory points in the game, which is made up of 2 separate eras.

Victory points are awarded several ways:

Victory points marked on the Estate cards and some of the structure cards

+ 1 victory point for each structure built

+1 victory point for each duplicate structure built
-2 victory points for each round played

Gameplay:
One player reads a question (all answers are numbers). The active player must guess a number that is close to - but not higher - than the correct answer. Players take turns either making a guess that is higher than the previous player, or calling out a DARE if they believe the previous player guessed too high. When a Dare is called the answer is checked and the player who was wrong must keep the card for "Silly goose points". Once a player has collected a certain number of cards, the game ends, and the player with the most silly goose points loses. Everyone else wins.
Nearly no table space is required, and the game therefore works well as a party game in nearly any setting.

"How Dare you?" comes with 2 optional advanced rules that spice up the gameplay:

"Doubling": If you guess a number that is at least twice that of the previous player, you gain a doubling card. This card negates one "silly goose point". This variant tempts players to make higher guesses.

"Double Dare": If you are dared, you can either accept the dare and check the answer like normal, or you can reply with a "Double Dare". The player who is wrong will now get double punishment (two cards instead of one). But the player who initiated the dare, now has the option to chicken out and withdraw their dare. If they do, they must instead guess a higher number before the round continues as normal.

Stress Botics is a sci-fi adventure in which four easily-stressable robots (known as Beta Bots) are sent to an exoplanet by their corporation Cubebotics CORP®, in order to mine its resources. Once those resources are extracted, the Beta Bots' task is to deliver them to the corporation's ships.

It won't be a piece of cake. To start with, the exoplanet is unstable, so the Beta Bots will have to adapt to a constantly changing environment. On top of that, each corporation ship requires different resources, and each payload delivery requires perfect timing & alignment with the orbiting trajectory of the matching ship. And last, but not least, the rival corporation Cylindroids INC® has sent its own bots to snatch resources and interfere with your bots.

But do not fret! Beta Bots can count on Alpha Bot’s help, a support robot with a (very) short-tempered AI. Alpha Bot will unlock new places to mine, give the Beta Bots more actions and generally make their life easier...but keep an eye on those pesky Cylindroid bots, since they won't pass up the opportunity to damage your guardian!

Mechanical overview:

The game is organized in rounds. In each round, an event takes place (which might involve trouble for the Beta Bots!) and the players will program actions to interact with the planet's resource-laden chambers, with enemies, with Alpha Bot, or with each other. Actions are chosen in secret and players commit to them before any are revealed. The stress level of each bot determines the turn order as well as its possible resource deliveries. Then players take turns to reveal their programmed actions, and execute them.

Each player has their own robot's blueprint, where they store resources using multiple containers of limited size. Those resources can be delivered to the passing ships, or they can be transformed or spent to enhance the robot's capabilities.

During the adventure, the autonomous Alpha Bot will advance through the planet's chambers until it reaches the surface. Players can interact with Alpha Bot to obtain advantages or to steer it out of harm's way, since it is vulnerable to enemy attacks and the planet's adversities.

At the end of each round, there's a maintenance step that includes the activation of enemy robots (Cylindroids). They can move, attack, or occupy resource chambers. Additionally, players will receive benefits or penalties (stress) according to their distance to Alpha Bot.

The game ends when Alpha Bot reaches the last chamber. The players tally the victory points, which can be earned in different ways: Through successful resource deliveries, by upgrades on their robot, by fulfilling other objectives, etc. Then, each player's victory points is reduced by the amount of stress they incurred during gameplay, and the player with most remaining points wins the game.

Tides is a game about collecting items from a beach. The goal is to score as many points as you can by making the most interesting sets of items. The tide is always changing; you never know what you’ll find on the beach!

Take cards from the row during LOW TIDE to collect items from the beach. During HIGH TIDE, flip the double-sided cards; the back side has scoring conditions. Score a set in either LOW or HIGH TIDE, by combining items you collected with a scoring card. Play until someone reaches 50 points. Finish the current low tide/high tide cycle. The player with the highest score wins!

Viking Raiders is a 2-5 player card game in which players are Viking chiefs, jostling to build the biggest Navy, create the largest Clan and gain the most Loot.

On your turn, you draw 2 cards to see what your clan has been up to whilst you have been away 'chiefing'. Have they focused on resources and mined stone or gold, collected wood, created new vikings, or built up the food supplies? Sometimes they have spent their time preparing actions for you by capturing a wandering Berserker or preparing for a raid (one of their favourite endeavours). Or maybe they have gained a favour from one of the Norse gods or goddesses?

Each turn you may use one action (for example go on a raid or use a favour from a God or Goddess) and buy one item from a central Market. You buy items using resources in your hand, and you can choose between ships for your Navy, buildings for your Clan and valuables for your Loot. Each item gives 1-3 Victory Points, and the first player to have an agreed number of Victory Points in each category wins the game.

There are also four rare Abilities that sometimes turn up in the Market. Oh, and watch out for Ragnarok...!

Stockpile is an economic board game that combines the traditional stockholding strategy of buy low, sell high with several additional mechanisms to create a fast-paced, engaging and interactive experience.

In Stockpile, players act as stock market investors at the end of the 20th century hoping to strike it rich, and the investor with the most money at the end of the game is the winner. Stockpile centers on the idea that nobody knows everything about the stock market, but everyone does know something. In the game, this philosophy manifests in two ways: insider information and the stockpile.

First, players are given insider information each round. This information dictates how a stock’s value will change at the end of the round. By privately learning if a stock is going to move up or down, each player has a chance to act ahead of the market by buying or selling at the right time.

Second, players purchase their stocks by bidding on piles of cards called stockpiles. These stockpiles will contain a mixture of face-up and face-down cards placed by other players in the game. In this way, nobody will know all of the cards in the stockpiles. Not all cards are good either. Trading fees can poison the piles by making players pay more than they bid. By putting stocks and other cards up for auction, Stockpile catalyzes player interaction, especially when potential profits from insider information are on the line.

Both of these mechanisms are combined with some stock market elements to make players consider multiple factors when selling a stock. Do you hold onto a stock in hopes of catching a lucrative stock split or do you sell now to avoid the potential company bankruptcy? Can you hold onto your stock until the end of the game to become the majority shareholder, or do you need the liquidity of cash now for future bidding? Do you risk it all by investing heavily into one company, or do you mitigate your risk by diversifying your portfolio?

In the end, everyone knows something about the stock market, so it all comes down to strategy execution. Will you be able to navigate the movements of the stock market with certainty? Or will your investments go under from poor predictions?

When you signed on as storyboard editors, you never expected a mess like this. Panels all out of order, some missing entirely, and you're not even allowed to talk on the job? You're pretty sure that's not what "silent film" means. Somehow, you'll need to rework all this into a movie that makes sense. But with the animation budget quickly running out, there's little room for error...

The cameras are rolling on our newest blockbuster: Moving Pictures! This cooperative game for 2 players was designed by Chris Klimowski and is sure to be a big hit.

In Moving Pictures players take turns placing numbered scene cards from their hand into the shared Timeline row in hopes of getting all 6 cards in order. The catch? They can't speak or signal to each other, so they'll have to watch each other's play closely for clues. Each card also has an effect listed which can impact placement, swap cards around, or even allow players a rare opportunity to share information.

Getting it right once is a feat in itself but a full game of Moving Pictures is played over 3 Acts. The Timeline grows with each Act, making each round harder than the one before. Thankfully you also have access to 2 Deleted Scenes: if the round would end with scenes out of order, you can spend a Deleted Scene to hide one card. These Deleted Scenes don’t refresh, meaning that you only get 2 mistakes before the credits roll.

In Djinn, you take turns moving across a map that shows thirteen locations. These locations are linked to actions where you can get the resources you need and catch the Djinn that are in six locations. In those locations you can do things like receive bottles and corks, collect magical power, buy magical items, hire mages to accompany you, discover secret passages, and more.

In each round, you can reach only one of two or three of the locations, so you must plan carefully to have all the resources you need in time to catch the Djinn. The game ends when all six "Boss Djinn" have been captured and removed from the map, then you score points for all captured Djinn.

Celt — Latin Celta, plural Celtae — were an early Indo-European people who from the second millennium BCE to the first century BCE spread over much of Europe. Their tribes and groups eventually ranged from the British Isles and Portugal to as far east as Transylvania, the Black Sea coasts, and Galatia in Anatolia, and they were in part absorbed into the Roman Empire as Britons, Gauls, Boii, Galatians, Celtiberians, and Lusitans.

Celtae is a "worker swapping" game powered by a rondel in which players choose actions to perform during their turn. On their turn, players swap one of their three active workers with one of the three workers on the action space they wish to perform, then they perform the action — which will be boosted if they have in their worker pool specific types of workers: farmers, builders, soldiers, and nobles.


The farming action allows players to draw cards, and it's boosted by farmers. Cards have three types of uses in the game: building, preparing for battle, and engaging with the druid order.
The build action allows players to build and expand citadels on the board by placing their discs on them, and it's boosted by builders. At game's end, only completed citadels will score, and players have to work together to complete them and score their presence on them. Each time players build in a citadel, they gain a bonus that was randomly assigned during set-up. The combination of these bonuses with a timely performed action often results in powerful combos.
The battle action, which is boosted by soldiers, allows players to defeat increasingly stronger Roman armies and to garrison the outskirts of the citadels on the map.
The recruit action, boosted by nobles, allows players to recruit workers to their tribe, increasing the number of available workers to boost future actions. However, if you manage to send certain types of workers from your tribe into the druid order, you'll get their favor and a druid worker who functions like a joker and boosts almost every type of action.


Every player has a leader card assigned to their tribe at the beginning of the game. At a certain point on the game, players will have to choose if their leaders stay on its regular side and like that gain a small number of points at game's end or forfeit those meager points and flip it to its heroic side, which has much harder requirements for much larger endgame points.

Each time the action marker on the rondel completes a full turn, the player who currently holds the favor of Teutates places a progress marker on one of the progress cards next to the game board. At game's end, only progress cards with progress markers will score, so as the game advances, players determine what will score...and what will not.

ROVE is a solo spatial puzzle game. In each game of ROVE, the player will face a series of mishaps that can only be solved by arranging the 6 module cards in a specific pattern. Moving a module requires Movement Points gained by discarding cards from hand for the listed amount. Players may gain additional Points if their current module layout matches the pattern shown on the discarded card.

Each module costs 1 Movement Point per activation and uses its own unique movement style, such as only moving diagonally or pushing other modules a single space. Modules also have powerful single-use abilities that can help get players out of a tight spot. Properly timing these abilities -- as well as effectively using the limited number of Movement cards -- will help the player complete ROVE’s mission successfully.

Ancient Terrible Things: Reawakened is a pulp-horror tabletop game for 1-4 players.
You play the role of an intrepid and foolish adventurer exploring a dark jungle river for Secrets.
Each turn you must travel to a Fateful Location and face an Ominous Encounter.
If you overcome the Encounter (using a combination of dice, tokens and cards) you gain Secrets.
The object of the game is to be the player with the most Secrets when the game ends at the Inexplicable Event.

Game play involves rolling dice to achieve combinations: runs, pairs, three or more of a kind, and single die showing a particular number or higher. Dice combinations are spent to overcome Encounters and to acquire the four resources used in the game: Focus, Courage, Treasure and Feat tokens.


Focus tokens are used to activate Swag cards to better manipulate dice results.
Courage tokens are spent to overcome any Encounter when visiting the Yawning Chasm.
Treasure tokens are spent to purchase useful Swag cards from the Trading Post which give you a permanent game effect.
Feat tokens are spent to play one-shot Feat cards from your hand.

In Moesteiro, players are architects in charge of teams of workers and master artisans and they compete for the glory of becoming the most prolific and important architect of their time.

The game is played over five rounds. Once all dice have been placed players will perform actions in the order of the action areas, from I to V. After that each player will have an opportunity to help build the monastery. During the game Victory Points (VPs) can be earned from the King tiles, from the village and in helping to construct the monastery. At the end of the game VPs are earned for sets of different unused stonework and stained glass tiles, as well as for their position on the labour track. The winner is the player with most VPs.

Rankster is a wildly different co-operative quiz game where you have to agree how you would rank famous people (and your friends). Simple but hilarious -

1- Turn over three character cards.

2- One player is the Judge who takes a question card, reads it to themselves, and secretly decides how they want to rank the characters on the basis of the question. They then read the question aloud to the other players.

3- The other players chat and have to all agree how they think the Judge has ranked the characters. Reveal the answer. If the players guessed the correct ranking everyone wins the round; if not everyone loses.

EXAMPLE:
Q: Who would you choose as the drummer in your rock band?

Start a new round, reveal three new characters and the next player becomes the Judge. Play until all players have been the Judge. You all win if you have succeeded more often than failing. It leads to hilarious arguments but it's not easy!

6 suspects is a game of memory and logical deduction. A crime has been committed. Two hidden evidence cards are assigned to each one of the six suspects. Players look at evidence cards, one after the other, trying to be the first to find the culprit.

On a player’s turn, they take one of the 12 face-down evidence cards, look at it, and then place it back. Once every player has played at least four times, any player can announce that they think they know the culprit. All other players take one last turn looking at an evidence card. Then, all players simultaneously show, with their hand, which one of the six suspects they think is the culprit.

All evidence cards are then revealed. First, the effect of the swap card is applied, if possible. Then the total evidence is added up for every suspect. The suspect with the highest total evidence is the culprit, and every player who voted for them scores one point.
